1. Stay calm and control the bleeding Apply gentle pressure using clean cotton or gauze. If needed, apply a pressure dressing. Do NOT use dirty cloth, towels, or handkerchiefs. 2. Clean the wound with clean water Do NOT apply dust, soil, oil, ghee, turmeric, or any home remedies. Wash the wound only with clean water. Make sure it does not get contaminated again. 3. Keep the hand elevated Keeping the hand raised above heart level reduces bleeding and swelling. 4. Do NOT pull torn or hanging tissues Do not pull skin, nail, or flesh pieces. The doctor will properly repair or cover them. 5. Remove rings or tight objects immediately Once swelling increases, removing them becomes impossible and dangerous. 6.
