There are around 650 muscles in your body. Accounting for between a third and a half of your total body weight. Your muscles not only let you sit, stand, walk and talk , they also pump air in and out of your lungs and your blood around your body, and move and focus your eyes and propel food through your digestive tract. Three types of muscles Muscles are bundles of long, tubular fibers that produce movement by contracting. There are three different types of muscle tissue in your body. Cardiac, smooth and skeletal, cardiac, smooth and skeletal. Cardiac muscle This type of muscle forms the large muscles of your heart, which contract to push blood through your arteries and relax to let blood back in from your veins. Cardiac muscles is termed involuntary muscle, because it operates without any conscious control from your brain. The cardiac muscle cells can each automatically contract and relax, but their actions are synchronized by group of specialized nerve cells which act as a pacemaker. The pacemaker cell also control the rate at which your heart beats, and increase or decrease your heart rate in response to nerve and hormone signals from other parts of your body. During exercise, when your skeletal muscles are working hard and need an increased blood supply, your hearts faster to pump more blood around your body. #PowerOfMuscles #MuscleHealth #HumanBody #MedicalAwareness #HealthEducation #KnowYourBody
